Great to use on the go when I want to keep my drink hot offsite. The press is also useful for taking on holiday when I know I won't get my coffee fix how I like it:)

I have 3 coffee machines (Dolce Gusto, Senseo, Tassimmo!!) but don't like the plastic milk that comes with them, so always microwave milk, but then I don't get froth.
This simply and cheap item has solved that dilemma.
It came very well packed. Simple instructions are in the box.
You put milk in the glass jug, up to a black line (or less if one cup!), microwave if you want it hot. Then pump up and down. You end up with lovely froth, thick just like Costas. It came with a cork mat to prevent it slipping.
There's a bit of washing up, or you can put it in the dishwasher.
Basically it does what it says! and it makes frothy milk shakes.....!

I received a "Tassimo" for my birthday recently but was disappointed with the quality of the cappuccino "froth" so decided to purchase this Bodum milk frother. It really is easy to use - simply fill with milk to the black line on the jug, microwave for one and a half minutes, then put the lid on and pump up and down for a few seconds. Pour the resulting frothy milk into your coffee. I am very impressed by the quality of this gadget and the froth lasts all the way down to the last sip of coffee not disappearing after a couple of minutes like with the Tassimo milk pod!A great buy! P.S. Have had it 18 months now, used most days, still going strong!

Amazing, but the instructions need to be better., 13 Sep 2008

I bought this about 6 months ago and have found it to be quite good, until a few days ago, when I discovered that it could make the PERFECT froth. A lot of people recommend that you warm the milk for a while in the microwave and then froth. But to make this work so as to form milk that is as thick as beaten egg whites, do the following:

1: Use semi-skimmed milk straight from the fridge.
2: Beat the milk vigorously, making sure that you pump only in the bottom 2 inches of the milk (if you come out of the milk with each stroke, it doesn't work).
3: Keep pumping until it starts to get thick (if you are vigorous, this will take about 30 seconds).
4: Pop it into the microwave at full power (800 watts in my case) for 50 seconds. This seems to almost set the milk and it is even thicker when it comes out.
5: You now have egg white milk. Awesome.

PS: I have a good quality milkshake mix for the kids that we give them on occasion and this thing makes brilliantly thick milkshakes without the addition of ice cream.

I received this as an Xmas present and yes, it did raise a few chuckles - at first. But the subject overall isn't at all funny (as another reviewer commented), and quite correctly the pull-no-punches terse writing style reinforces that. Also, the book must be given credit for being informative and truthful. But, as I read on and on, I found the ugly cartoonery increasingly irritating, my chuckling ceased and the whole experience of reading it became depressing - depressing mostly because I can't comprehend a puerile mentality that thinks this is suitable material for a funny book. Some of the doom scenarios described kill 100's of thousands of people every single year and for me the effect of this book is to trivialise that.

It's about the most horrible gift I've ever received, and it's now on the way to the landfill - I didn't even consider giving it to a charity shop.

The Coffee Table Book of Doom is a wonderful collaborative effort by the remarkably talented duo of Steven Appleby and Art Lester. Together they have created a darkly hilarious illustrated book that reveals the many ways in which the world is likely explode, erupt, flood, burn, be zapped by the death rays of mad scientists, bombarded by asteroids or depopulated by superbugs.

The bad news is that we could go at any time and apparently 2012 is a popular year on doom calendars.

There is no good news.

All this should be no laughing matter but Appleby and Lester present their many doom scenarios in such a charming way that you can't help but sit back and enjoy (laugh). The book's witty, thought-provoking text combines seamlessly with Appleby's superb illustrations and commentary. It's irreverent, clever, informative, absurd and very, very funny.

Tip 1: Buy this wonderful book and put in on your coffee table.
Tip 2: Buy a hard hat and a gas mask.
Tip 3: Stock up on tinned food and consider digging a bunker.
Tip 3: Keep any eye out for stray asteroids.

Very happy with the coffee table quality and its appearance. The value much better than any available locally. Pleasantly surprised with the speed of delivery which was well within specified by Amazon standard time. This is a great little table, good price and easy to assemble, and, as I wanted it as a side coffee/telephone table exactly suits its purpose. Bottom shelf adequately holds papers, books etc. I already have a laptop table in black glass and chrome so they match well. Trouble is I think I am becoming an 'Amazon addict' as everything I have ordered has been up to standard and no returns have been necessary so I am constantly browsing for more bargains!!
